On May 29, 2011 the following notice was sent to me by Dr. Billy Royal who is pictured above.
I am sharing it now, July 30, 2011.
Alma Holland died yesterday about one month following her 99th birthday. She was in rehab after a short stay in a hospital and was getting assistance in a rehab with her walking. She died of a sudden heart attack. Her family had a birthday get together on her recent birthday with all of her nine children and numerous grand and great grand children.
Alma was the last grandchild of Lonie and Amma Royal [Lonie married Anderson after Amma's death] and the last great grand child of Archibald Royal and Molton Royal, and their wifes, Sabra Cooper and ? . Both of these men were prisoners in the Civil war. She is the last 1st cousin of me and my brothers on the Royal side of the family.
Alma demonstrated that having your mother to die when you are very young, being raised by various relatives and later your dad and stepmother, getting married as a teenager, living hard on a small farm, having nine kids that were born at home, washing a million diapers in a washtub, cooking a million meals, etc. etc. doesn't prevent you from having a long life.
Alma lived with her youngest child, Gail and husband, Leslie Jersen, in Salemburg during recent years.
